Short-Term Rental Concerns?

Subject: Addressing Noise Issues from Short-term Rentals in Our Neighborhood

Dear Neighbors,

Recently, we’ve noticed concerns around some short-term rental properties in our area—particularly with noisy parties during late hours and early morning. While short-term rentals offer benefits, excessive noise impacts our quality of life and peaceful environment.

We want to address these issues constructively to ensure our neighborhood remains a safe, enjoyable place for all. Plano has regulations that apply to noise disturbances and rentals, and I wanted to share some options if you encounter these issues:

What You Can Do:

  1. Report Noise Issues – Use the Plano non-emergency number: (972) 424-5678. This helps document recurring problems.

  2. City Ordinance on Noise Control – Plano restricts excessive noise, especially between 10 PM – 7 AM. Chronic violations may warrant action by the city.

  3. Contact Code Compliance – If a property is frequently disruptive, file a report online through the City of Plano Code Compliance portal: Code Compliance Reporting.

  4. Engage the Property Owner – If possible, contact the property owner to address the issue directly.

As a neighborhood, we can advocate for responsible rental practices to maintain the peace we all enjoy. Please feel free to share your thoughts or suggestions on how we can best address this together.

Thank you for your support,

2. Engage with the City of Plano

  • HOA Collaboration: If your neighborhood is under an HOA, coordinate with the board to enforce any existing HOA rules about rentals.

  • City Council Involvement: Plano has recently addressed short-term rental concerns; attending a city council meeting or writing to local representatives can amplify your voice.

  • Sign a Petition: If multiple neighbors are concerned, creating a petition could encourage the city to increase regulation or enforcement.
